#28 – Snacky

Our dog goes nuts for carrots. She knows the word, she knows them by sight, she knows the sound of the little plastic bag they are stored in the refrigerator. But unlike most everything else she is allowed to eat, we eat them as well. This confuses the heck out of her. “Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, now… what do you have there? Carrots? I didn’t realize it was snack time already! What a wonderful surprise! Hey wait what are you doing with tha… WHY ARE YOU EATING MY CARROTS! WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE!! WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE THIS TORTURE!!!”

My dog does the same thing for ice cubes… I made the mistake of giving him one from my drink one day when it was hot and I was lazy. Now he knows the word “ice,” and expects to be allowed to participate in the consumption of every iced beverage. Only juice and tea, though. Water is apparently too plain.

My mum’s cat used to eat broccoli.

And if you gave her (the cat, not my mum) pilchards in tomato sauce, she would carefully lick all the sauce off before eating the fish, cause she liked the sauce so much. :/

My dog always acts interested in carrots, but every time he gets one he just chews it into a pulpy paste and spits it out in a corner.

      Same here.
He will beg and beg and beg – sitting pretty.
I finally relent and give him one so he can get his mouth on it and spit it out – just to sit up and beg for another one.
