So far my son isn’t scared of monsters. He doesn’t have an older brother to teach him about that. I’m actually leery of letting him watch any of the Monsters Inc movies because of this.

It’s funny the little things that will come to mind in a crisis. Little tasks that we put importance on that don’t really matter in the grand scheme. “I can’t be plunging off this cliff! I have library books to return!”
I was always afraid of the monsters in my dreams. The ones under the bed or in the closet got a lot of hype but I never actually saw any of them. The ones in my dreams, however, showed up all the time.
Why do they have these monsters in the school anyway? We could really use the space. Do you realize how many more students we could get in here? Each class could have 40 students! Each teacher would be… oh I get it. Never mind.
I imagine there have been more than a few parents that have done this sort of thing with their kids only to have it backfire.
“No, Jimmy still sleeps in our bed with us. Yes, he’s 23 now. I don’t think he will ever move out at this point.”
I’m kind of amazed at how little “trash” we generate in my house. The main bulk of everything that gets carried out of the house is recycling now. Most of that is packaging. I seem to remember as a kid there being at least 4 times as much trash to take out every week. Maybe I was just smaller and everything seemed bigger.
Today’s Biff reaches for the sky.
I’m still waiting for the 3D displays that look like holograms instead of fancy pop up books. I want to actually be surrounded by a new world and not just have it pop out at me. Although I guess it would be cool to see a 3D documentary about pop-up books
When I was a kid I enjoyed watching a show called Spectreman. Each episode involves some space gorillas causing mayhem to take control of the planet. Spectreman then shows up to save the day. The plot was basically an excuse for a fight scene between Spectreman and and someone in a giant rubber monster costume. It was an amazing mixture of bad kung fu movies and Godzilla. I think the best part of the show was the theme song. It’s been around 30 years since I’ve watched it but that song is still playing in my head.
I almost aways brought my lunch to work and it usually required that I heat it up. Typically I would have to put it in the microwave for a minute or so, stir it up and then heat it for another minute. It got to the point where I would balance my food on the little ledge above the break room microwave to stir my food. If I dared to use the convenient table next to me, someone would dash in with their frozen lasagne that requires 14 minutes to defrost.
I was never really scared of monsters outside or even the classic under the bed or in the closet variety. All my monsters were in dreams. Not only were they scary but they had the power to trap me in the dream world and keep me from waking up. Fortunately it has been a long time since I have seen them… Hopefully they don’t read this website.
