#798 – Refund

I don’t really run into situations anymore where I need cash so I never seek it out on purpose. I was handed some recently and honestly forgot what I used to do with it. No… I never kept it in my wallet. Do I have a money clip? Hmm… chapstick, car keys, some sort of sentient lint ball… Maybe the other pocket. No, that’s my phone… Oh, I should probably step out of line to do this part.

I guess I am an anachronism. I use cash, and only rarely carry my ATM card. That is mostly used for online purchases; cash for all else!

I’m just like you, I have a ninjawallet in which I keep one CC, my Drivers License, my Ventra Pass( Chicago’s new stupid PT idea) and my student ID, and even that feels like too much…

I use a card for a lot of things, but I still need cash for some stuff like lunch and parking. We are obviously taking time to catch up in Australia.

  4. I don’t use cash anymore, either, but when someone hands me some (like birthdays or something) I have a little stash in the house I put it into.

Then, about once a month, we go cash some in and get pinball tokens at the arcade. Saves going to the counter.

Arcade, yes. About a year ago, a vintage 80s arcade opened in my town, so that’s where all my cash goes too.

It’s for throwing in the air and making it rain!

I thought that was silver iodide?

        Doesn’t that require an airplane?

    There’s always Origami.

  7. I need quarters to do laundry. I need paper money to break down into quarters to do laundry. Also the taco truck at work only takes cash.

It’s worth noting there still are a TON of respected “hole-in-the-wall” businesses all over the USA (including Los Angeles institutions Tito’s Tacos and Apple Pan) that only accept cash.

I received $40 in a card from a relative for late last year. Five months later, I used one of the $20’s in my kid brother’s birthday card. The next one will probably find a similar use. Or it’ll stay in my wallet for dire-emergency cash that never gets used. Who knows.
