#5 – High anxiety

I was always really sad at how fast latex balloons would lose their helium. I would bring one home from a party and happily gaze upon it as it hugged my bedroom ceiling. The next morning it would be shrunken and weakly listing around the floor waiting for someone to accidentally step on it.

It depends on the type of balloon I guess, we have had some in the past that lasted many days.

Some party supply store sell a liquid that you squirt inside latex balloons before you put the helium to them. It’s supposed to coat the inside and help keep the gas inside for longer.

I get mylar balloons for my birthday. Sometimes that same balloon will be hanging around months after the party.

I always look forward to reading the blog posts beneath these and the Biffs because I like how you find pleasure in simple things like “[the balloon] as it hugged my bedroom ceiling.” People usually look at me like I’m crazy for that. “You spent an hour playing with plastic army men? How old are you?”

I used to feel the same way about the men I would drag home from parties.

Ever notice that this one works if you read it backwards, too?
