Ain’t that the truth. It’s worse when a co-worker is talking among multiple friends. When is that ever appropriate for telling a secret? You’re pretty much telling half the people you know. What’s to make us think you didn’t already tell the other half? At least, say something like “I’m only gonna tell you guys but keep it to yourself” or some such. I hate having to act like I don’t know anything about anyone all of the time.
I am 24 years old and I still blow my parents’ cover sometimes because they fail to inform me that any cover is in use. Mom and dad, I am down to lie for you. Just let me know that you need me to do it.
I hear ya. A few years ago I told a friend of mine that my mom thought he was gay (he wasn’t.) I told him this as I sat with my mom at the table. Everyone laughed except for my mom, who was embarrassed for some reason.
This is all child. Repeating what Mommy or Daddy say or do in private.

Little kids are the worst at keeping secrets. Anything you say or do gets repeated to the exact person you didn’t want to tell.

I had the opposite.
My mom was introduced to a gal in my social group and she’s all, “Oh! You’re the one with a crush on my son!”, right out of the gate.
