We have lots of board games in the house that are beyond the attention span of my 4 year old. I realized recently that we don’t have to play the actual game to have fun. He enjoys unpacking all the pieces, setting up the boards and cards and then a few rounds of rolling the dice. It will probably be weird for him when he’s older and encounters these games at a friend’s house.

I’ve watched a few robot fighting games on TV. It was cool to see all the different ways the various teams would solve similar problems. I wonder if it will ever take off into primetime TV territory. Maybe it’s harder to relate to when it’s a game you haven’t been playing yourself since childhood.
Somehow I missed the “I spy” game when I was a kid. I don’t know if it’s a regional thing or if I was sick that day at school or what. I have a vague memory of being in a long car trip where someone started playing it and I tried to play along like I knew what was going on. Maybe I just hung with the wrong crowd and we were too busy drawing space ships at the back of the bus to play games.
Today’s Biff delivers.
I like playing hide and seek with little kids. They have no concept of what a good place to hide is. Usually it’s somewhere in the open but their face is hidden. Conversely if I hide somewhere just barely out of view it’s as if I have the power of invisibility. They are so amazed when I jump out from right next to where they were standing this whole time.
Today’s Biff is sweet.
