#244 – Offering

At most office jobs I became the printer troubleshooter guy. To most people this was an amazing magical skill. All I ever did though was open the panels and follow the instructions printed inside. I’m one of those magical “readers” you may have heard about.

Today’s Biff will be here all night.

I’ve fallen for the same scam for years. All the helpless non-readers around me at JPL, couldn’t figure it out…

Most of my computer work falls into that category… What’s the error? Oh, it says “Click OK to continue? Why don’t you try that?”

    “You’re a GENIUS!”

    “I know, I know…”

Why look for a guy whose not married? Find a married one and put him out of his misery. His ghost will thank you! Imagine, not having to work any more overtime to make college savings payments, mortgage payments, car payments, etc.

No, no, no, you need to find a divorced one he’ll really thank you for putting him out of his misery.

Love this one (as a fellow occasional “printer guy”)… although I might change the error code to “666”… 😉

I regularly amaze people by doing things I consider pretty routine. On the other hand, few people seem to notice the things I do that I consider genuinely impressive. Maybe it balances somehow…

That’s the last time I buy products from Az-Tech, inc.

Hey! I have that magical “read instructions” skill too!
It has helped me at a lot of jobs where apparently no one else had that skill.

I’m that guy at my work. Ever since our new photocopier was delivered, whenever I watch 2001: A Space Odyssey and the ape-men are jumping up and down, running around, and freaking out over the monolith, I always look for the one ape-man sitting calmly in the corner reading the @#$%& instructions.

  13. Dirk Gently says:

    Error 1202?
Isn’t that the error in the Apollo Guidance Computer where the computer goes “WAY TOO MUCH INFO KTHXBAI”?
