#204 – Cracked

My breakfasts are rarely more elaborate than putting milk in the bowl after filling it with cereal. That’s why hotel breakfast buffets are so exciting to me. Some hotels are pretty skimpy and barely serve up cereal and watery orange juice. We recently stayed at one that had moldy bagels. Some have an amazing array of eggs and sausages and waffles and fresh fruit and pancakes and mounds of bacon. The best hotels will even have a chef to make you a custom omelette while you wait. I wish there was a breakfast truck like that set up in front of my house everyday.

Today’s Biff loses some weight.

    Chris,

Sounds like you need a Waffle House near your place. Best greasy diner food in the South!

dare we ask what hotel/motel chain had moldy bagels? theres also places where the chef will make you custom waffles or pancakes too in the buffet

  3. As a general rule of thumb, the less you pay for a hotel room, the more amenities you’ll have. The cheapest often have free wi-fi, free HBO, free parking, and a free continental breakfast.

And moldy bagels. And stinky rooms.

It sucks to be spending $100+ per night on a hotel and then to be told that wi-fi and the breakfast buffet are each going to set you back another $20, but that omelet might just be worth it.

Our local food store chain is not a hotel, mind you, but we have a breakfast buffet that’s just great….the food varies, but you’ll always have eggs, doughnuts, bagels, sausage, bacon, fresh OJ, biscuits and gravy, hashbrown casserole, the variable stuff (like cobbler, pancakes, french toast, fresh fruit), and yes, someone to make you custom omelettes at no extra charge. Seven bucks gets you all you can eat, or five for children. Needless to say, it’s always pretty busy on weekends when we run it. 🙂

My brother lives in Lawrence, Kansas, and knows locations of nearly every Waffle House between there and Oklahoma City on his way to visit family.
