Chapter: Comic
I remember being little and wanting to pet animals with a fast back & forth motion instead of going with the grain. The animal wouldn’t like it but I only learned it as a rule specific to that individual animal. “Oh, I see, Blinky likes it when you pet him like this.” It took awhile before I caught on to the pattern and realized this was a good rule of thumb for all creatures with fur.

Several of my cats don’t mind being pet the wrong way and every which way.
My landlord’s cat, P.C., will occasionally let me pet him the wrong way, but only as long as I pet him the correct way afterward.
My cat prefers to just be bopped repeatedly on the head.
bop bop bop
One off my cats likes being stroked the wrong way. So long as you don’t do it for too long.
I once had a kitten that wanted to be fed and left alone. She’d hiss and scratch if anyone came near her unless there was food. with food, she’d eat then run. Social and friendly she was not.
For a second there, I thought his left leg was detached completely!
I know a Welsh Corgi that will yelp and dash away if you pet her the wrong way.
Yeah, this sounds about right for cats. Haven’t noticed it near as much for dogs, though.
Did you know that moles dont have a grain, so they dont get disturbed when becking through the underground?
…I do now. Something new every day.
when my cat wants petted he wants it NOW DANGIT!! even if you are standing with a cup of coffee in your hand and talking to your boss on the phone. he will sit at your feet, unassuming untill he launches straight up and digs all of his claws into your shoulders. but if your sitting on the couch with nothing to do, he wants nothing to do with you.
