Chapter: Comic
I wonder how quickly robots will conquer the child care industry after mastering all the cleaning tasks we throw at them. There certainly is a lot of cleaning related to children. Maybe it’s more likely that we’ll start them out taking care of our pets. Although if they spend enough time with them it would be more like the pet belonged to the robot. “Hey nice schnauzer your robot has.” I’m sure that wouldn’t happen with the children though.

When that baby perspirates, it’ll be a spaghetti junction of diapers. 😛
“Hey nice schnauzer your robot has.” Sounds kind of dirty.
I tend to disagree. If you don’t take care of children, they imprint on those who do, and robots are at least a boy’s favorite toy anyway.
Agreed my siblings ask me for everything even when parents are available
I think it was John B. Watson who invented a crib that takes care of the baby and he used it on his children. They turned out fine, but the idea was very unpopular.
If my robot tried to take care of my child, I would deactivate it.
I have a friend who used to be a nanny, and she said kids would get attached to her like she was their mom… I guess it could be the same with a robot. Maybe depends on how much human-like interaction the robots are able to provide… Maybe I’m over-thinking this.
It is more reminiscent of The Skinner Box, which was a failed experiment due to the fact that the child kept getting rashes.
I’ve noticed that pets and children are very often mentioned at the same time, especially in warning labels. Apparently, the local (super?) Wal-Mart has picked up the idea and the pet section (toys, foods, grooming) is right next to the toddler stuff (toys, foods, grooming).
Imagine what that bucket of bolts does at feeding time…(shiver)
Meh. Babies are annoying.
