#126 – Circled

I wonder if the whole “The Moon is made of cheese” story captured people’s attentions more back before humans had been there. I remember seeing it like that in old cartoons and thinking “What? That’s not right.” We would have found the space cows by now.

Maybe the whole moon-cheese thing came from Norse mythology where the first living thing was a giant cow.

    Beneath the moon’s crust,
The herds are hidden from sight,
    By the space cowboys.

    Well, I like the joke.

I remember being told as a child that the moon is covered in crevices, some as deep as 50 feet. Usually, space dust filled these crevices in and sometimes, people get stuck in them.l

yes. from what i remeber the wolf was in love with the moon and chased her around the sky. or something like that.

  5. SurveySays says:

we had a dog that would do this. curiously, if she couldn’t find a blanket or something to bury herself in than she’d just cover her nose with her paws and fall asleep that way…

Earth’s land mass is shaped like a moose’s head. At least to me it looks like that.

Supposedly the moon/green cheese bit came from a quotation saying, essentially, that you’d have an easier time convincing a yokel that the moon was made of fresh cheese than that it was bigger than a cart wheel.
