Why? Why are you trying to crush my hand? I’m a cartoonist. I need this hand for other things. Ow. Stop it. Kid, let go or I’m calling your mom.
I remember being horrified when I realized it wasn’t actually butter that was being squirted onto my popcorn at the movie theater. It suddenly made sense how when I made popcorn at home it would shrivel up from the real butter. The movie popcorn would be soaked in “butter” but remained fluffy and crunchy.
I wonder how much soda I would drink if there was a magical “zero calorie” version that tasted good to me. As it is the occasional soda that I do drink has to be one of the “real sugar” varieties. The more common high fructose corn syrup versions are just too sweet to me at this point. It’s too much like drinking melted candy.

When I worked at a fast food joint I was amused by the different requests on how to handle the ice in the soda that a customer just purchased. The most common request was “easy on the ice”. They would say in in a ver accusatorial way. I think there was a general opinion at the time that fast food places were trying to rip off customers by putting way too much ice in the cup. I think they would have been more frustrated to know that the most expensive part of the equation was the cup.
