Chapter: Comic
A few Thanksgivings ago my mother-in-law made her usual batch of four pumpkin pies. Two pies are to keep at home and two pies are to bring to a relative’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. Fortunately someone decided to sneak an early piece of one of the stay-at-home pies. Because although you can probably leave out an ingredient here or there you definitely should not forget the sugar.
Today’s Biff has seen the way.

Reminds me of my trip to Australia. Somewhere along the tour we were served pecan pie topped with something white and fluffy. For the life of me I, a baker of pies, couldn’t figure out how one got sour cream to do light a fluffy. Then I realized it was some kind of whipped cream with out sugar. It fit right in with the no sugar in the ice tea.
Beautiful country, odd about sugar.
Ah, my dear, but that’s the majesty of my country.
The sugar.
you must be australian, so you can answer me, “wh-why in the nine levels of mictlan would you make whipped cream without sugar?”
When I learned how to make my own whipped cream, I actually preferred making it without sugar when I put it on pies… Usually, the pie was sweet enough as it is, so putting sweet whipped cream on there just made my pancreas ache. 😐
Triple take. XD
Awesome! I was only shooting for to so I got a bonus one out of you. 🙂
Could be worse – first year I was married, my wife made a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving but forgot the eggs in the filling. After baking, we had a nice crust full of hot pumpkin soup…
All of this is better than a pumpkin pie I got in the military. It tasted like soap.
My mom did the exact same thing one Thanksgiving. My dad was the only one who ate the pie, until she figured out what was wrong and told him to stop trying to be polite.
My brother once made some chocolate cake from a mix, but used baking powder instead of soda. And used olive oil instead of vegetable oil. In the same cake.
And?
Don’t leave us hanging.
*snerk!* I did that, year before last. Tried to fix it by suggesting that sweetener be sprinkled over the top of the pie, and covered in Cool Whip. Yeah, it didn’t really work. XD Won’t do THAT again!
Nice double joke!!!
Oh dear. I know someone whose mother did that. Only, she decided that she could fix it by using a mixer to blend the sugar into the pie afterward. You can imagine how that went…
For a minute, my hand went to my mouth too…
So many layers…
