Chapter: Comic
It’s really weird when I run into a cash only place now. Cash? Huh? I guess I have a jar of change on my table at home… I’ll be right back?

A whole new take on dine and dash…
I generally am prepared for cash only… although right this minute, they would have to break a large bill to do so.
To be fair, many of the local businesses here have moments when their credit machine is down, and they fail to let you know until it is time to pay.
Back in a jiff, or not. At least for you it’ll seem like a jiff. I may have aged the next moment you see me, or I might send an earlier version of myself.
My first-ever visit to a Waffle House was before they started taking plastic, and I didn’t have enough cash.
My second-ever visit to a Waffle House did not happen until many years later, and by then…
In the 70’s, your order was ready before you paid.

One of my favorite diners takes credit cards, but their card receipts don’t have a place for adding a tip. This felt a bit awkward the first time I was there and didn’t have much cash with me. I made sure to tip double the next time I went (same server).
I don’t encounter this very often, but an inconvenient number of places arbitrarily accept everything but Visa.
Well, back in the day, his order would have been only a couple of bucks. I just happen to have a issue of Reader’s Digest, February 1972, right here. On pages 50-51, there is an ad on the lower halves of both pages for McDonald’s. An order of a Big Mac, cheese burger, regular burger, Filet O’fish, fries for each, chocolate shake, strawberry shake, Coke, and orange drink all can be had for less than $4.00! That’s why Time Machines need to be invented, the cheap prices.
Finally made it through. I’ve been reading through tBoB every couple of years, and on latest archive binge I noticed Maximumble. It’s amazing how much humor you have packed into one human. Unless of course… you aren’t one…
Dun Dun Dun?
Tim Hortons used to be cash only, to promote “Speed of Service.” They started accepting debit around the same time as the more secure chips were being widely adopted. The extra security also meant much longer wait times.
