#59 – Deciduous

We had a tree in our front yard where I grew up that was a champion of leaf shedding. One day it would decide to hold its breath and over the course of the week all the leaves would turn a bright yellow. Then one morning it would finally exhale and all the leaves would drop in the span of a few hours. It was always really neat to see if you happened to catch it that morning.

Today’s Biff is flipping great.

..Your comment on today’s Biff made me laugh. Again.
And the comic is good, too.

When we were little, my friend and I had this theory that if you caught falling leaves before they hit the ground, they were magical and gave you a wish. It was all good fun until we realised we could climb the tree and shake it while the other stood underneath with their arms open.

Our tree was super dumb. I live in LA, and if it got cold, the tree would drop its leaves, then a week later when it got warm again, the leaves would start growing back. And repeat.

Haha. Love that the two males are evergreens .-D

I love how the trees clearly have a wooden fence…

This comic becomes even weirder if you realize that trees pump up all their toxins and wastes to the leaves before they shed them. Essentially, they’re taking a big crap.
Think about that next time you jump into a pile of leaves.

Ditto about the fence. Is that a cemetery or a warning to tresspassers or something?

The tree you described (with all of the yellow leaves falling at once) sounds like a Ginkgo tree… we had one in my neighborhood as a kid, and it would do just like you said. It looked like it was raining leaves.

This is weirder than when I saw a piece of paper get nailed to a tree. Of course, that was about 3-5 comics ago.

We had a tree that was very confused, it would drop it’s leaves in December (I live in northern Alberta). So I would have to rake the leaves twice, once in the fall, for all the other trees, and again in the spring once the snow melted, for this one.

my tree did every thing backwards it grew in the form of a tall bush and shed it’s leaves during the summer does that mean it defective or just different
