Growing up outside of Detroit my wife is a big hockey fan. So now I’m sort of a sympathetic fan through her. The games don’t have much meaning to me directly but her excitement is infectious.

then there was the discussion on MST3K where Mike and the ‘Bots confused Gypsy by using nearly every sports term available to describe the Big Game.
Are you sure? Didn’t “The Game” have Ben Kingsley and the guy (kid’s father) in “Searching for Bobby Fisher” (also Ben Kingsley!) – Joe something, where they were con-men trying to show a psychologist “the game” and in the process, conned her?
Oh Chris, you make a Canadian girl smile with your attempts at “hockey lingo”. The term for when you’re a man down is “short-handed”. So they scored a “short-handed goal”, not a “man down in the power play goal”.
Ha! I should update it. 🙂
As long as there’s nookie after I’m content.
…and yet, there are the Hawks with Lord Stanley’s Cup, and there are the Wings with…um…hmm.
