#480 – Dolled

Babies used to be more of an abstract concept to my son. He would see them on TV or at a friend’s house but they didn’t really hold his interest. Then a few months ago he got a new baby brother. Now he likes to imitate me and pretend to be a daddy taking care of his own baby.Tags: babies, doll, parenting

Kids imitate parents! Very insightful!
That sounded sarcastic…What I mean is that the perceptions children have in regards to anything is influenced by what they see parents do. The stay at home dad will foster different attitudes about what is considered masculine than the 50’s always at work dad.
Gendered toys are silly. Children will play as children choose and it’s not as strict as parents like to think.
My mom bought me Barbies and my brother Ken’s, and both of us had some toy cars.
More often than not, we played “house” with the cars (Hot Wheels were the parents, Micro-Machines the babies) and Barbie and Ken were adventurers, fighting monsters and stuff!
Besides, chicks dig a guy who can handle a kid.
How are we STILL fighting this battle? D:
and most kids still prefer playing with the box and packing material the toy came in.
Awwww . . .
So, I shared this comic on Tumblr, because I thought it was pretty cool… It now has over 15,000 notes. I can’t even find my dashboard anymore!
Thank you so much! Got a lot of new visitors because of you. 🙂
I like this one, Twitted it and gave the links to my friends. The only problem with your comic is that it is not available in French ^^; Because then, my husband would be able to read you without my translation ^^;
This makes me wonder if you’ve heard/seen “William’s Doll.”
I was thinking the same thing as RJ Rouge, William’s Doll from Free to Be You and Me (if you aren’t a child of the 60’s/70’s, you probably don’t know it).
Got to say, I love this comic. I’ve shared it on my FB and had several people share it as well. Captured how I feel right in the feels.
Thank you. 🙂
