Chapter: Comic
Knocking down or watching your sand castle be consumed by the ocean is an interesting reward for your hours of hard work. You know going into it that you are making a very temporary sculpture but sometimes it’s sad that you will only have a few pictures to show for it. Getting to jump on it at the end of the day is much better than the sudden collapse or the unexpected rain storm. At least you get to decide when you return the grains back to their source.
Today’s Biff is ready to dip.

Spring break in college four of us decided to see if we could build a sandcastle that could withstand the tide. The beach was slightly eroded, so there was a foot high difference where the high time mark was, we built down from that line. By the time we were finished building the tide was coming in and we had about 20 people watching to see what was going to happen (this was ~11:00 pm) Multiple retaining walls, sand buttresses, the works… stood up all the way to the final minute. Then one wave about 2 feet higher than all the rest finished it at the exact minute of predicted high tide. The lesson we learned: if you are going to waste 5 hours of your time like this, bring a camera.
That was awesome, that was like… Perry Bible Fellowship awesome.
I could never get the sand to have any shape other than overturned bucket, so knocking it down was never a big deal.
