This isn’t too far from some patches of my life …
Do you want to know about trains (started with Thomas and went to a whole new trainspottery level, I know what a 4-4-2 means!!) /dinosaurs (He taught himself to read so that he could read about them in encyclopedias)/star wars (okay so this one was no biggy)/doctor who (“Dad do you remember the episode in which …”, “No son, I wasn’t born then” … Doctor Who encyclopedias litter the house)/terry pratchett (“sorry son, you’re pretty much on your own here”) …
It was a little different with my dad. He taught my brother and me more about guys like Soupy Sales and Pinky Lee while we all watched Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. We had to catch up on his childhood while he shared ours.
Optimus is a truck cuz trucks a cool. That, and well cannon.
I’ve done three in-depth applications to play existing fictional characters for the Landel’s Institute formerly-livejournal-now-dreamwidth (I think? lost track of them) roleplay. You think you know a character, and then you go and do that. Then you reeeally know them… and then it annoys you when other people get the character wrong. XD
I did play the characters there too until burning out: Riddick, Radical Edward from Cowboy Bebop, and Manticore from City of Heroes/Villains.
