#429 – Lensed

Chapter: Comic
I’ve been watching some old TV shows with the sound off lately. It’s interesting the things I notice when I’m not distracted by the dialog. There’s a character in McHale’s Navy that wears glasses. They appear to be actual glasses in all of the far away shots but they are just empty frames in all of his closeups. It’s now a game for me. Checking out who on TV is wearing empty frames.
Also, check out the guest strip I did today for Sam and Fuzzy!

It was quite the fashion in Hong Kong last year:

I remember an Archie comic in which Veronica started wearing glasses for fashion. Dilton thought they were real and offered to clean them for her. He sprayed her right in the eyes with lens cleaner. Which brings up the question: who cleans their glasses while wearing them?
Back in the day, it was done to avoid reflections from studio lights.
Yep!
You’d enjoy the old Superman series (black and white). In the early seasons, Clark wears no-lens glasses. But, by the end of the show’s run, the actor’s vision has gotten bad enough that he has to have lenses.

Ha! I’ll have to look for that one!

That would be Captain Wallace “Ol’ Leadbottom” Binghamton, played by the late Joe Flynn.

It’s hard to take when you remember that people used to get picked on for glasses. Fashion is so fickle. XD
Of course, I’d warn people who would try to pick on me (worn specs since I was 9) that if they knocked my glasses off, I couldn’t see where to land a punch and might drop-kick them in the groin by accident.
My vision isn’t that bad without my glasses.
they don’t count as glasses if there aren’t any lenses, so (smack)
Idk why people get so up in arms about this. I love my glasses. If I ever got laser eye surgery, I would probably still wear glasses. They improve my face more than my vision.
Funny, I just got glasses a while back and now it seems that everyone is wearing them.
