#240 – Glow

My favorite nightlight when I was a kid was sort of a little slide projector that put images of Disney characters on my ceiling. It did not help me get to sleep. I would climb down out of bed and lay down on my back next to it. I liked to grab the spinning wheel of images and manually move it around to control which image was shown and for how long. This eventually broke it.

Today’s Biff has hay fever.

I used to have glow in the dark stars on my ceiling, I even had a few constellations. I miss those stars, anyone know where to get little glow in the dark stars?

A quick search on Amazon for “glow in the dark stars” turned up a nice selection.

For some odd reason, when I can’t sleep, I’ll occasionally put on my CD of the War of the Worlds broadcast. Relaxes me enough to drop off to sleep.

  5. I used to have glow-in-the-dark stars on my ceiling, until it got re-painting. I then replaced them with glow-in-the-dark Doctor Who stickers instead. Going to sleep with the gas mask kid staring at you is a little unnerving at first.

My brother has sheep rather than stars, and used to have a Winnie The Pooh light projector that stopped producing light very quickly, but still played music for years. I think he must have been 8 when he stopped using that thing…

“Are you my mummy?” *wakes up from nightmare and sees the glowing gasmask kid “AAAAHHHHHGGGG!!!!!!! *Jumps out of bed and runs away

How did I not think of this when I was coming up with new torments when my children will little?!

And this is the constellation of John, the talking skull.

  8. OK, as I’m not a huge fan of it, I’m not one to reference Harry Potter at everything, but in this case, it’s simply unavoidable.

DARK MARK ON HIS CEILING. AWESOME.

“Of course you can stay over. No inconvenience at all, even on short notice like this. I didn’t have anything planned for the night anyway. No, no, I’m not bothered at all, just fine. Hope you enjoy your stay.”

I used to a miniature black hole in my room. The soul-crushing darkness put me right to sleep every time.
