This is a word-for-word conversation I had with my wife. Sometimes she gets tragic news on her phone, like someone we know has died. Sometimes she gets stuck on a level of Candy Crush. Her reaction is exactly the same.

Gee, I thought it was something important like Minesweeper.
I’ve seen this reaction from way back when “Snake” was the cellphone Game To Beat.
What do you mean, way back? My wife is playing a contemporary version of “Snake” on her iPhone! And guess what happens when she fails a level… (Same with a few other games too.) Wives…
(To be fair, I don’t believe this behavior is really gender-specific.)

I hardly dare to move in bed when my wife is playing one of her favorite games on her iPhone, in particular Eggplants.
But to be fair, I’ve heard there are male nerds of that kind too.
“sir, would like to see your new baby?”
“just one second…”
“who gives this woman in marriage?”
“almost done…”
“man, that was one intense game. so, what’d I miss?”
