Chapter: Comic
I loved firefly season as a kid. We loved to hit them out of midair with baseball bats. They made a cool yellow arc through the darkened neighborhood. “Ooh that was totally a homerun!” And we liked to squish them with our fingers and spear them on our faces for instant glow-in-the dark warpaint. For some reason there aren’t as many of them around anymore.
Today’s Biff is ready for his closeup.

So which one is the male… …? On second thought, I don’t think I want to know… 🙁
I think it’s quite obvious who’s the female, look at the first panel…
Also, your personal story for this comic made me laugh, Chris. 🙂
this was good.
(said as I watch RVB.)
Fireflies usually die on me. 🙁 I was unlucky.
Like when they cam into contact with your skin?
Actually, I’d forget to leave air holes.
That’s a horrible story about being incredibly cruel to those poor fireflies.
The only thing that tempers my outrage is that… I did it, too.
My family never got fireflys. We got brown bats that lived in the chimney. Us kids had fun trying to hit those with tennis rackets, and our cats had fun eating them. I still want a pet bat though….
You do realize that ALL fireflies are MALE, right? It’s the glowworms that are the females of the species.
Maybe in your country but not in the US.
Maybe it was something strange about us kids in the Midwest but we just tried to catch enough fireflies in jars and to read by or see in the dark. Never could do either, but we never gave up trying. Killing them intentionally NO! They were pretty and harmless and their wings tickled then they landed on you. Besides I couldn’t hit a basketball with a 2X4 and still can’t.
It looks like she’s really…
*puts on shades*
turned on
Ow. That gave me a cramp in my neck.
Woah! I have a lot of catching up to do! (*Virus… gah.*)
…We don’t get fireflies in Wales…
And, how could you kill them?!
D:> You MONSTER!
(*joke, joke, obv.*)
But still… how? I mean, I can’t STAND touching bugs… I like them, but touching them is just… eww…
I’d stuff as many as i could in a jar and run inside and shut off the lights to see if i could see anything. my mother convinced me that i had to let them go because the sun ‘recharged’ them…
ahah so i’m not the only person who has done the whole glowing war paint idea with fire flies
