Fun fact: eating gluten free when you’re *NOT* “allergic” is extremely unhealthy.

I’m not so sure about that – I’m not aware of any nutritional requirements satisfied exclusively by eating glutens.

Also, I’m not sure why you put quotes around “allergic” – are you confusing CD for wheat allergy?

A *genuinely* gluten free diet requires some pretty serious dietary changes, which can have all sorts of unfortunate side effects in terms of what other nutrients you sacrifice by avoiding certain foods.

Half-assed fad “no gluten” diets, not so much.

If you’re allergic to gluten, then you are aware of it for your whole life; Also nowadays, a lot of people are proclaiming themselves “allergic to gluten” while they were just told by some shitty people to eat gluten free meal.
As gluten free meals are evidently lighter for digestion, they come with their share of defficiencies.
It’s like lactose intolerant people and people allergic to cow milk: You are allergic to milk from birth, but if you’re not, you’ll become lactose intolerant if you stop drinking milk. You’ll become Gluten intolerant if you stop eating Gluten, and then, you will have to buy Gluten Free meals.
In Italy, Gluten Free is a fashion; in France, the only place you can find Gluten Free nutrients and meals is the pharmacy.
So yeah, as gluten is mostly your first source of energy, it’s pretty bad to STOP eating it; even though, if you have diabetes, or you want to make pretty cakes, a little share of Gluten Free Flour with the usual flour can’t hurt, and makes the cake lighter!

Erm, nope. You can’t really compare a protein complex to a sugar molecule.
I’ve actually spent nearly 5 years eating entirely glutenfree since nothing else worked with my stupidly irritable guts – so much pain from that!
During those years, my guts recovered, and nowadays I don’t need to worry so much about what I eat anymore (there are still a few exotic fruits I should avoid, but that’s obviously not a gluten problem).
Long story short, I did not become “gluten-intolerant” by stopping eating gluten. I only became intolerant of people telling me that my diet was just a fashion thing.

“When I bought the cookies they didn’t charge me for glutens so I was like, ‘Whoa, does this still come with glutens?’ and they were like, ‘Yeah dude they’re free, have as many as you want.'”

  4. strawdog says:

whoa you dont eat glutens! then stop drinking my beer and give me that samich back.
