as someone with a profound anxiety disorder, this is absolutely something I ask my partner to do. I showed her this strip and we *both* laughed about it.

Side rant: I really wish people would stop saying things like “That’s not funny,” as if humor isn’t a subjective thing. Just because you didn’t find it funny doesn’t mean nobody else can, or vice versa. If someone else laughed, especially if they’re the one the joke’s about, looking them in the face and saying “That’s not funny” is obtuse and personally insulting, as if to say “You’re wrong for laughing at that.”
Once we hit teenage years our mother would always make one of us order the take away on the phone because she said she was worried that she wouldn’t understand the people working the counter. Of course since we both moved out she manages to order takeaway perfectly fine by herself so I wonder if it was a ploy to make us get used to phoning people.

I do have some anxiety problems myself, and trust me, I’d rather laugh than cry about it.
PS Getting thrown off the deep end helps. It doesn’t make you any fond memories, but things are better in the long run.
