#602 – Construction

My son like all kinds of different construction toy. Lego, blocks, lincoln logs. The only issue is he is more interested in the destruction aspect than building. He has no sympathy for daddy’s time investment.

“The bad guy did nothing to you or to anybody. Sure, he was raised in a different lifestyle, with different beliefs and customs that you might think are bad. But you destroyed his base, without taking any time to understand his culture, or why he had those beliefs and customs – why he was bad. Nor did you offer him the opportunity to learn your customs, to become wiser, to realize a better life. You just attacked him. See, he wasn’t the bad guy. You are.”

    “Wow, Dad, that’s really insightful.”

“Yep. Also, bad guys don’t get ice cream.”

So, did the Space Rangers blow up the base, or was it an experiment gone wrong?

Who wants to bet Daddy did the same things with the same disregard when he was the same age as little boy?…

You should totally try “Kerbal Space Program” with your son. That way you both can learn about space rocketry in rather friendly environment and play space rangers, pioneers and what ever spacey stuff you can come up with.

They organized a trailer competition and here are few of them:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5OhFnq_iKw Promo video for older version.
    http://youtu.be/0E4TDYmyBq8 Cinematic trailer
http://youtu.be/BmorOO58KLM Narrated by Scott Manley from whom you can also find lots of other videos about the KSP, reaching orbit, creating probes, docking etc. etc.

It’s still on alpha stage (available on Steam and in their own page ), but a lot of fun. I’m positive you’d find it interesting. 🙂

    Here’s their homesite still: https://kerbalspaceprogram.com

invest the time to build something out of concrete. tell him when he destroys that one you’ll start on another one for him.

As children, our family soon discovered that Lincoln Logs and Brios are VERY compatible. Just think about it.
