#597 – Plummet

Costumes can make kids feel really powerful. I used to put on my older brother’s motorcycle helmet, his winter gloves and my winter boots to pretend I was an astronaut. I must have looked silly when I flew my spaceship (rode my bicycle) around the neighborhood. I thought I must have looked awesome.

Also, if you have an iPad I have a bunch of new books available in the iBookstore including a free copy of Maximumble #1!

“At least he landed on the mugger and saved those people.”

“Yeah. He got down there fast, didn’t he?”

Anyone who has a t-shirt of their favorite hero’s costume knows the feeling when someone gets happy when they see it. I have a Spider-Man shirt, and little kids love it when I wear it, even though I’m built more like Peter Parker in Earth-X than current Parker.

My little brother had an annoying insistence of wearing his Superman pajamas till he outgrew them (with towel pinned to his shoulders for effect), or swinging around those tube rolls from the middle of paper towels, or yes the bicycle thing or…

    Need I go on?

      You misspelled awesome as “annoying”.

It is not misspelled when your little brother embarrasses older sister in that getup when he’s too old to be doing it. (Strictly from the perspective of me as an older kid, btw…I know better now. Lol)

On the other hand, it meant he didn’t lose his valuable imagination when he reached adulthood. I think that is a terrible thing when some kid grows up without one, or loses it upon growing up…

I had Superman pajamas when I was a kid, but my parents rarely let me wear the cape. Something about it being a strangulation hazard. Apparently I was an idiot.

Always wondered if the reason I never had super powers was because the costume was incomplete.

my lazy slob shirt says “don’t make me use my superpowers” in comic book font; i don’t wear it often ’cause i’m afraid people might challenge me and find out my superpowers are sitting still for long hours and intense concentration on the tv
