#574 – Strength

Recently my 5-year-old was sent to his room but refused. I picked him up and sat him down on his bed but he still wasn’t having it. “I’m stronger than you daddy! I’ll just push past you!” This is when I realized that whenever we wrestle or play super heroes he always “beats” me. All of those experiences were going to his head. Consequently he was a bit shocked that he couldn’t push or flail past my single outstretched hand.

The upside to surprising your son is that now he can’t tell when or how your “super powers” will manifest.

this is true. I could tell what my daughter (3 at the time) was doing by the sounds I heard, so I used to holler at her when she couldn’t see me. she is now 8 and has told her younger brother and sister that its hard to get away with anything in the house because I can see through walls.

Awww, this and the one before it are so sweet! I like the last panel where the dad is smiling, it’s so cute!

When I played Superhero with my nephews, it helped that their weakness was that Uncle knew where the ticklish spots were.

That’s brilliant! I love your story too – my dad used to do the same thing when we’d play, then one day after I ‘really whopped him one’ he over-acted so much he fell backwards down our stairs…
I was so proud for YEARS over my feat of strength!
