I remember talking about a TV show at work and meeting a “I don’t have a TV” person for the first time. Now I’m that person, but instead of “I don’t have a TV” it’s “There are 100,000 TV shows and I have never heard of the one you are talking about!” I can’t even keep up with the channels at this point.
Even the one who say to me, “You still have cable? My satellite systen gives me more channels.” still only watch pretty much the same stuff I do.
And there are those people who have a hard time grasping that I’ve never had cable or satellite, and have only gotten over-the-air channels. If you’ve got to watch commercials anyway, why pay for TV?
And then there’s me who has a TV and lots of movies, but I personally consider it a waste of money to have TV service. Makes it fun calling my Internet company – every time: “You know, you could save a lot of money if you bundled your TV service with us!”
They can never seem to wrap their heads around the idea of someone not wanting TV service.
I don’t have TV either. We get TV shows or movies from the library or buy them and watch them on my PS2.
No dumb commercials, no monthly bills, and you can rewind and watch a part over again, better subtitles, etc. On the off chance I do go to someones house and they have TV, I’m amazed how there is NEVER anything good most of the time even though they have a billion channels.
I grew up with TV. I like TV. I have satellite and hate it. Had cable and hated it. But I’m hooked on several shows that are not on regular TV and I don’t want to wait until they are available on DVD. But I don’t have any movie channels, that’s just too much money for too little return.
TVs are for movies and video games, what are these “channels” that everybody talks about =]
Mythbusters is the only show I care about at this point. Much more interesting than teenage pregnancy, staged auctions, and ethnic stereotypes arguing with each other.
