I think moths may just be weakly held together sentient dust. It certainly doesn’t take much to return them to their original form. Just a quick whack and they disintegrate back into a fine powder.

I don’t like moths. They hide in my mailox and fly out suddenly when I get the mail. At those times I’d love to turn them into a fine dust.
I always noticed that about moths. They just seem to disintegrate or turn into a white smear whenever you kill them.
No “Today’s Biff” or “Today’s Maximumble” lines?

Well they don’t turn to dust that fast. There was a big moth that died in my Gramp’s van. It was there for a year or something. Finally someone threw it out and it hit a rock but stayed intact except for a bit of the wing.
