I was never really scared of monsters outside or even the classic under the bed or in the closet variety. All my monsters were in dreams. Not only were they scary but they had the power to trap me in the dream world and keep me from waking up. Fortunately it has been a long time since I have seen them… Hopefully they don’t read this website.

Old black and white sci-fi movies cracked me up when I was a kid. They didn’t seem like they were real in the way some movies did. They seemed more like it was adults playing pretend. I thought it was funny how some of my toys were more impressive than the space ships they had in those films.
I wonder how quickly robots will conquer the child care industry after mastering all the cleaning tasks we throw at them. There certainly is a lot of cleaning related to children. Maybe it’s more likely that we’ll start them out taking care of our pets. Although if they spend enough time with them it would be more like the pet belonged to the robot. “Hey nice schnauzer your robot has.” I’m sure that wouldn’t happen with the children though.
I have a heavy duty dust mask that I keep on my desk and almost always remember to put it on before doing something that would trigger my dust allergies. I get hit pretty fast if I start rummaging around under tables or behind boxes without the mask. I recently slipped up right before going to bed. It turn out that it’s really hard to brush your teeth and sneeze at the same time.
I’m really paranoid about forgetting stuff when we go on trips. The best way I have to cope with it is to make a list of things to remember. I start it a week or two before we go and add to it every day as I think of things. This still doesn’t prevent me from forgetting things that never make it on to the list but at least I can lull myself into feeling like I’m in control.
Some things are really frustrating when you first become a ghost. Sure, the whole thing about flying through walls is fun and a convenient way to get around but you also have to give up playing video games and drinking orange juice. Most of the tricky stuff can be figured out in time, it’s the more experienced spooks around you that will be the major source of annoyance.
I don’t drink soda very often so when I go to purchase some I’m always thrown by their pricing. Apparently now the concept is that the smaller the container it comes in the more expensive it will be. I keep running across stores that will have 20 ounce bottles in a cooler on a shelf right above 1 liter bottles and they will all cost exactly the same. Are the smaller bottles more expensive per ounce because of some sort of miniaturization technology?
Our dog will sometimes freak out and start pacing around for no apparent reason. You want your toy? No. Do you need more water? No. Do you need to go outside? Ah okay… Then as I open the door I’m clobbered with a sudden blast of skunk that the dog had been hit with ten minutes before.
I’m no good at small talk. “Hey nice weather we’re having.” That “I’m afraid of silence so I have to make the word sounds happen here because that’s what makes humans different from plants” kind of thing. I wonder how often the person next to me is just pretending to be checking his email or listening to music on headphones to avoid the inevitable plant conversation.
I feel sorry for people that have the job standing on the side of the road wearing a ridiculous costume holding a sign. It seems like I’ve never seen them in appropriate weather. I’m always driving past when I’m running the air conditioning full blast. It never makes me want to visit the business that is being advertised it just makes me angry that they are making this poor gorilla stand around in such horrible weather.
